LR city manager, attorney get raises

— The Little Rock city Board of Directors approved raises Tuesday night for the city manager and the city attorney — the first raises for both in several years.

The board voted after meeting in executive session to conduct evaluations of City Manager Bruce Moore and City Attorney Tom Carpenter to give each man a 3 percent raise.

The 3 percent raise takes Moore’s salary from $168,920 to $173,988. The raise takes Carpenter’s salary from $133,001 to $136,990, according to city records.

Carpenter said Wednesday that the last raise he received was in 2008. The city’s Human Resources Department listed Moore’s salary at the 2009 level before the bump Tuesday night. The paperwork to start the raises was filed Wednesday with the Human Resources Department.

Eight board members voted in favor of the raises and two board members, Ward 1 Director Erma Hendrix and Ward 2 Director Ken Richardson, left before the vote Tuesday, according to meeting minutes.

Mayor Mark Stodola spoke in favor of the raises.

“I made the comments that through tough budget times, they’ve performed very well for their respective abilities,” he said.
