'Mirror, Mirror' likely won't top the classic 1937 version

Mirror, Mirror is the first but probably not best cinematic version of the Grimm Brothers’ classic fairy tale Snow White that will be released this year (the darker Snow White and the Huntsman is coming in June), but does mark a historical moment: Julia Roberts debut as a heavy.

We don’t know what to think of that, because the movie didn’t screen in time for any of our reviewers to see it, but we recount the cinematic history of the fair one — while grumpily doubting either of the new films will top the Walt Disney classic of 1937.
