LR man charged in shooting

After turning himself in to his parole officer on a traffic warrant, a Little Rock man was soon arrested and charged in a Monday night shooting.

Roderick Williams, 29, of 7712 Rebecca Lane was charged Tuesday afternoon with firstdegree battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to police, officers were called to a parking lot at 5400 W. 51st St. shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and found Jesse Beasely, 32, sprawled against a car with several gunshot wounds.

Beasely identified Williams as his assailant and said Williams shot him four times in the abdomen and the buttocks, reports said.

Police also found a bent baseball bat nearby, which Beasely said he had used against Williams during the altercation.

According to Beasely, he had been shot by Williams before, “three or four years ago,” but police said they did not have a report of such a shooting on file.

Williams was held Wednesday night at the Pulaski Countyjail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Woman arrested after man stabbed

A Little Rock woman faces battery charges after police say she stabbed a man in the arm while arguing with him in the street near her home.

Pamela Richie, 49, of 1916 S. Pulaski St. was arguing Tuesday night with James Williams, 57, who lives nearby, in the 1900 block of Pulaski Street. During the argument, Richie pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed Williams in the right arm, an arrest report states.

After police arrived, officers said, Richie continued to make threats of stabbing Williams, whose condition was not available Wednesday night. His wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

Richie was arrested about 11:51 p.m. Tuesday and charged with second-degree battery, first-degree terroristic threatening and public intoxication.

Richie was being held Wednesday night at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Ill-fitting clothes called theft motive

When asked why she took$4,197 from her employer over a six-week period, a Little Rock woman told investigators that she needed the money for clothes because of her recent weight loss, court records state.

Michelle Villa, 30, was arrested Tuesday morning at her home at 5607 Western Lane and charged with felony theft of property.

According to the arrest affidavit, an American Eagle Outfitters loss prevention manager noticed a large number of cash returns at their Park Plaza location in Little Rock.

The manager told detectives that Villa, an assistant manager at the store, eventually admitted to roughly 50 return transactions in which Villa was making fraudulent returns and keeping the money or spending it on store gift cards, according to the arrest report.

She told the loss prevention manager she committed the fraudulent returns “to pay for clothing due to recent weight loss,” the affidavit states.

Villa was released from the Pulaski County jail on Tuesday after posting bond.

No arrests have been made in a late-night brawl and shooting that sent a 14-year-old girl to the hospital early Saturday.

About midnight, police were called to 215 W. Capitol Ave. for a fight in progress inside the All American Wings restaurant.

The fight started inside the restaurant, police reports state, and Choncey Vales, 23, of North Little Rock suffered a deep gash in his head after someone struck him with a barstool.

The fight then moved outside and ended when an unknown gunman, described only as a black man, began shooting, reports state.

When paramedics arrived, they were approached by Earleesha Haymond, 14, of Sherwood, who had been shot near the right knee by what police said appeared to be a .22-caliber round.

Earleesha was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. Her condition Wednesday was not available.
