State Science and Engineering Fair showcases record participation

— The 2012 Southwestern Energy Arkansas State Science and Engineering Fair will hold its 58th annual student competition Friday and Saturday at the University of Central Arkansas.

This year’s event is expected to draw more than 240student entries from ninth through 12th-graders across the state.

Visual opportunities include the following:

◊Opening Ceremony, welcome to students and science teachers with special presentation of $20,000 from Southwestern Energy Company,10:30 a.m. Friday, University of Central Arkansas HPER Center, intersection of Students Lane and Farris (southwest corner of campus). Park in the lot to the east of the HPER Center.

◊Science Fair Exhibits, 9-11:30 a.m. Friday, project setup; and 9-11:30 a.m.

Saturday, open to the public, University of Central Arkansas HPER Center.

◊“Awesome Science” Presentation with Joel Gordon, Museum of Discovery visitor experience director, 1 p.m. Saturday, University of Central Arkansas Ida Waldron Auditorium, Old Main Hall.

◊S cience Fair Awards Banquet, 5 p.m. Saturday, University of Central Arkansas Student Center Banquet Hall.
