MOUNTAIN HOME — A Baxter County man who fell off a Norfork Lake boat dock during an epileptic seizure drowned Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Robert Ray Comstock, 43, fell from a private dock off Baxter County Road 857 near Diamond Bay at about 3 p.m., Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news release. Comstock had been fishing off the dock and suffered a seizure, his mother told police.
Sheriff ’s deputies and emergency responders from the Hand Cove Volunteer Fire Department and the Baxter Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service, along with Arkansas Game and Fish officers and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park rangers went to the dock, Montgomery said.
Comstock was pulled from the water by people who live in the area, Montgomery said.
Efforts by emergency medical personnel to revive Comstock were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
