Senior Cody Jones struck out nine and allowed four hits as the Cyclones shut out the visiting Tigers on Friday.

Eric Turner’s second-inning home run gave Russellville a 1-0 lead. James Reasoner capped the scoring with a fielder’s choice.

Derek Birginske went 2 for 3 for the Cyclones (3-1 in league play).

Daniel Imbro struck out six and allowed only five hits in taking the loss for Central (2-2 in league play).

LR CATHOLIC 8, CABOT 4

Michael Haun’s two-run triple highlighted a five-run fourth as the Rockets defeated the Panthers at Lamar Porter Field in Little Rock.

Winning pitcher Taylor Wallace allowed five hits and struck out seven as the Rockets improved to 1-3 in conference play.

Logan Wewers drove in two runs with a sixth-inning double. Both Allen Mays and Matt Morris had back-to-back run scoring doubles in the fourth inning.

Cabot (0-4 in 7A/6A Central) led 1-0 on Justin Goff’s sacrifice fly in the second inning before Catholic’s five-run fourth. Cabot scored on a balk in the fifth inning and added two more runs in the sixth on a double by Casey Vaughan and a wild pitch.
