The bodies of Hill, 27, and Crawford, 24, were discovered by a friend who went to their home a little after 6 p.m. Sunday at 7208 Reed Road, which is off Crystal Hill Road and Interstate 430 near North Little Rock, according to the sheriff’s office account.

The friend found the door open and Hill’s body just inside the doorway and called 911. Deputies found Crawford’s body in a bedroom. A boy who was approximately 2 years old was discovered on a bed in the bedroom and unharmed. He since has been turned over to family members, Lt. Carl Minden, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said Monday.

The bodies have been taken to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy. Detectives, however, had enough indication of the cause of their deaths to conclude they were homicides, Minden said. He declined to be more specific.

The autopsies also will help establish when they died, Minden said. Detectives have talked to “a few individuals who talked to them [Sunday] morning,” he said. “They haven’t encountered anyone who had been with them that day.”

Other than an errant piece of crime-scene tape, little of the violence was evident at the mobile home Monday. The front door was under a small roofed porch that led to a gravel driveway. A full-sized basketball hoop and a smaller one as well as a couple of chairs lined the driveway.

Herman Hill is listed as a parolee under the supervision of the Arkansas Department of Community Correction, according to Rhonda Sharp, a spokesman for the agency. Hill has been on parole since 2008 for a robbery conviction, she said.

Both Hill and Crawford have arrest histories with the sheriff’s office.

Hill’s arrests date back to 2002 when he was arrested on drug possession and other charges. He was arrested in 2005 on aggravated robbery and theft charges. He was arrested in January on a failure to-appear warrant.

Crawford was arrested in 2008 on criminal trespass and terroristic-threatening charges. Less than a year later she was arrested for failure to appear.

A man arrested at the crime scene Sunday night “had absolutely nothing to do with” the deaths, Minden said. Eric Dewayne Way, 28, of 5200 Standridge Road, which is around the corner from the scene of the homicides, was wanted on a probation-revocation warrant from the Arkansas Parole Board, according to the sheriff’s office.
