Driver killed in head-on collision in Van Buren County

One person was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision that occurred while one vehicle attempted to pass another Sunday in Van Buren County, authorities said.

Kenneth Joseph Brown, 24, of Vilonia, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 1:47 p.m. wreck.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, Brown's 1999 Acura was southbound on U.S. 65 about 4 miles north of Clinton when it moved into the northbound lanes to pass. Police say the Acura collided there with a northbound Honda sedan and then came to a rest on the shoulder of the highway.

The Honda driver, 22-year-old Kelly E. Crowe, and a passenger in the Acura, 23-year-old Cory J. Muldoon, were taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. No information on the extent of their injuries was released.

The wreck remains under investigation.
