Lottery commission begins search for auditor

— The Arkansas Lottery Commission on Monday began the process to find a new internal auditor after the previous auditor resigned.

Commissioners made slight changes to the job description - shifting experience in gaming or lottery operations from a requirement to a preferred criteria - before voting to begin advertising the position.

Internal auditor Michael Hyde quit earlier this month in a resignation that came after he questioned the terms of an amendment to the lottery's contract with instant ticket vendor Scientific Games. The terms gave the vendor an additional $21.7 million over 7 years.

The commission on Monday also approved a budget for fiscal year 2013 that calls for $98 million in projected net proceeds for scholarships.
