Four from UCA make conference team

After Central Arkansas earned its first berth in the Southland Conference Tournament, four of its players were named to the All-Southland Conference team Monday.

UCA senior catcher Travis Snider was a first-team selection, while senior first baseman Bryan Willson, junior right fielder Forrestt Allday and sophomore outfielder Jonathan Davis were named to the second team. Junior left fielder Ethan Harris was an honorable mention selection.

Snider is hitting .286 with 34 RBI. Allday is hitting .331 and leads the league in on-base percentage at .492. Willson is hitting .317 with a team-high 64 hits. Harris leads the team with 46 RBI.

Davis was hitting .333, but has missed the past two weeks with a wrist injury and will be out the rest of the season.

Baseball, softball statistics needed

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is asking all high school baseball and softball coaches to submit their season statistics for inclusion in the end of the year spring sports roundup. Statistics needed are: at-bats, hits, runs, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, stolen bases and batting average. Please indicate what school and grade of the players. Deadline for submission is June 5. These statistics may be faxed to 1-501-378-3869 or they may be emailed to tcooper@arkansasonline.com.

All-Academic team nominations sought

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is accepting nominations for its All-Academic team. To be considered for the all-academic team, the student-athlete must be a senior; have made a contribution to at least one high school sport; have made a minimum of 25 on the ACT; be in the top 10 percent of his/her graduating class, and provide a resume. The nominees must also be nominated by a teacher, coach or administrator from their school who is not the nominee’s parent. Deadline for submission is June 8. Nominations may be faxed to 1-501-378-3869 or they may be emailed to tcooper@arkansasonline.com.
