RALPH EUGENE DURDEN, age 75, of Little Rock, died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Durden, and their three children: Patti Durdenof Childersburg, Ala., Rollin (Natalie) of Cabot, Ark., and Dewayne(Shannon) of Little Rock. He is also survived by three loving grandsons, Reed Durden of Cabot, Rance Durden of Cabot and Kevin Durden of Little Rock; brother, Clint Durden of Talladega, Ala .,and sisters, Corene Thomas of Jefferson, Georgia and Edna Hill of Amory, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Ralph.

He was born May 26, 1936, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of D.C. and Alma Durden. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Maury Durden, and three sisters, Gladys Richards, Mable Creel and Martha Townsend. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Dr. John Ransom, Dr. Steve Hutchins and their very special nurse, Lola Fish. Also to the staff of Dr. Mariann Harrington who have been so compassionate with our family during dad’s illness.

To our extended family, Dr. John Ransom and his wife, Kathy, their children Matt, Kelly and Jen ... We could not have made it through this very difficult time without all of you.

ZELDA MAY WEBER MEYER, age 86, formerly of Jacksonville passed away Monday, May 21, 2012. She was born January 18, 1926, in Rock Run Township, Ill., to the late John Weber and Harriet Lola Chapin Weber. She was a 1944 graduate of Dakota High School and was a claims adjuster for Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Meyer and a infant brother John Daniel Weber. She is survived by her children, Randall (Nancy) Meyer, Colin (Linda) Meyer, Spencer (Anna) Meyer, Kevin (Dawn) Meyer, numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

HAROLD GODDARD RAYNOR JR., 79, went to be with the Lordon Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was born April 4, 1933, in Westfield, N.Y., a son of the late Sarah Kathryn Barnes and Harold Goddard Raynor Sr. He was a veteran of the UnitedStates Army, having served inthe Korean War. He worked for 30 years for the United States Postal Service in Houston, Texas, was a Deacon for Almeda Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, founding member and Deacon of Fresno Baptist Church, Deacon of Martindale Baptist Church in Little Rock, member of Fellowship Bible Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Louise (Ridge) Raynor; one son, Robert C. Raynor (Gayla) of Little Rock; two daughters Sandy Raynor and Jennifer Hacker both of Little Rock; grandchildren Heather Napier, Ashley Mangrum, Dalton Hacker and Kathryn Hacker; great-grandchild Tanner Mangrum; three brothers Robert Raynor (Cynde) of Tucson, Ariz., Richard Raynor (Carol) of Marshall, Mo., Ray Raynor (Rosemary) of Sacramento, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

BILLY EARL ROMINE JR., 65, of Little Rock, passed awayTuesday, May 22, 2012. Billy loved to work in his yard, deer hunt and work on cars. Billy served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents,Billy and Mildred Romine, and his son, Joseph Sellers Romine. BENTON - Marguerite “Margie” Helen Etien, age 91, of Benton, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was born February 26, 1921 in St. Clair, Pa. Mrs. Etien retired after 25 years of being a R.N. at St. Vincent’s, member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and OLF Alter Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marguerite Agnes Dodds; husband, Robert Adrian Etien, Sr. and two sisters, Joan Liddle and Mildred Lambert. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Adrian Etien Jr. of Bella Vista, Ark.; three daughters, Shirley Anne Radtke, Marguerite “Margie” Laura Rodriguez and Kathryn “Kitty” Marie Scott all of Benton; brother, George Dodds of Orwigsburg, Pa.; 15 grandchildren and eight and a half great-grandchildren.

CABOT - Patricia “Patsy” (Byrd) Brannon, 74, of Cabot,Ark., was born September 26, 1937, at Cabot, to Benjamin and Millie (Baugh) Byrd, and she died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Patsy was a member of Cabot First Baptist Church, andwas a retired teacher with the Jacksonville and Cabot school districts.

CONWAY - Jimmy B. Throneberry, 78, went to be with theLord May 23, 2012. He was born December 3, 1931 to Oscar Lee and Florence Timmons Throneberry in Huntsville, Alabama. Jimmy grew up in Fayetteville, Tennessee, graduating from high school there. He kept close ties with his Fayetteville friends. Jimmy attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, receiving his BS degree. He received an Andrew Carnegie Fellowship to attend George Peabody College and received his MA degree in Biology. He received a National Science Foundation Fellowship and earned his PhD degree from Michigan State University. Jimmy taught biology six years at Abilene Christian College and 33 years at the University of Central Arkansas. He wrote two biology textbooks with Dr. Neal Buffaloe, Principles of Biology and Concepts of Biology. He was responsible for founding the chapter of the American Association of University Professors at the University of Central Arkansas. Jimmy attended the University Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bobby Lee Throneberry of Rome, Georgia. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Miller Throneberry; his sons James Barton Throneberry (wife Karen) and Christopher Lee Throneberry (Minette Densmore); his grandchildren, Casey Throneberry Thurow (Brandon), Corey Barton Throneberry (Lauren), Daniel Zachary Throneberry, and Madison Lee Throneberry; and his great grandchildren, Emerie Grace Thurow and Grayson Michael Thurow. Two new greatgrandchildren are expected this summer.

Special thanks to Dr. Tyrone Lee, Dr. Sue Tsuda and her nurses, and Rachelle and the other nurses and staff at Conway Regional Medical Center, who provided comfort and care to Jimmy and his family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the University Church of Christ, 3155 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, Arkansas. The family will receive friends following the service.

CURTIS - Millie Guinn, 95, of Curtis, died Monday, May 21, in a Little Rock Hospital. She was born April 27, 1917 in Curtis the daughter of the late Hillard and Sally Goza. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Friendship Baptist Church at Curtis. Survivors include one son, Luther (Martha) Guinn of Little Rock; four grand dogs that she adored; one sister, Christine Goza of Rockford, Ill. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m., at the Mount Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Jones officiating. Burial will be in Curtis Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. EAST END - Thomas E. Williams, Sr., age 75, of East End, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Tom was born on July 10, 1936 in Little Rock, Arkansas to his parents, T.A. and Elouise Williams. He was retired from Alcoa of Benton, Arkansas and a consultant of Employers Mutual. He was a member of East End Baptist Church, 32nd degree Mason, Iron Springs Lodge 342, and a previous Scimitar Shriners.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara Ettleman Williams, and his brother, Bobby Ray Williams. He is survived by his son, Ted Williams and wife Marla; daughter Robin Garrett and husband Bob; four grandsons, Austin & McKinley Williams and Grant & Dylan Garrett and one sister Phana Johnson.

He will be remembered well by family and friends that received gifts from his hobbies of wood carving and cooking. He was very generous and caring of others needs.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2012 at East End Baptist Church, 4701 East End Road, Hensley, Ark. 72065, with interment at Salem Cemetery, with Bro. Ron Sanders and Bro. Paul Roberts officiating. There will be an open visitation at the family home at 103 Williams Drive from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday. FAYETTEVILLE - Doris Ethel Bailey passed away Monday,May 21 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born January 24, 1923, to Flossie May Davis and lived most of her life in Fayetteville. She was a graduate of University High School andattended the University of Arkansas. She served honorably in the United States Navy Waves from 1943 to 1946 and was an Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class in Pensacola, Fla.

Doris married Frederick D. Bailey, December 8, 1946. She was a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years. She was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts and was a Girl Scout for over 83 years. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and Eastern Star.

She is survived by her children; son, Frederick (Rick) Bailey (Jamie) of Fayetteville, Pat (Gordon) Page of Little Rock and Susan (Bobby) Edwards of Draper, Utah; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Saturday, May26, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens immediately following. GREENBRIER - Mark Allen Hall, 52, of Greenbrier, passedaway May 22, 2012. He was born July 1, 1959, in Conway to Evelyn (Knopp) Hall and the late Don Hall. Mark dearly loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fishermanand enjoyed firearms reloading. He enjoyed bull riding and racing four-wheelers and go-carts. He often said he earned every ache and pain, but would not have changed anything! In August 2011 he retired from Afco Steel, after 34 years.

Mark is survived by his wife of 19 years, Martha (Keith) Hall; his mother, Evelyn Hall of Greenbrier; and one sister, Kim Hall of Center Ridge. Mark will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his beloved dog, Missy.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. HOT SPRINGS - Jacquelyne Birdwell “Jackie” Quinn, 74, ofHot Springs died Monday, May 21, 2012. Born on February 26, 1938, in Shreveport, La., to the late Dr. Jack Birdwell and Alleyne Dean Birdwell, she was reared and received her early educationin Shreveport, graduating from Byrd High School. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, in 1959.

Jackie married Ben Raymond Quinn in Shreveport November 28, 1959, and moved to Pine Bluff. She was a partner in Ben Quinn, General Contractor. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff, where she served as Evangelism Coordinator and, for 15 years, as Administrative Assistant. After moving to Hot Springs, she became an active member and Elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She served 15 years as a board member of Evergreen Ministries in Louisiana.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Raymond Quinn of Hot Springs; son, Ben Raymond “Ray” Quinn Jr. of Conway, Ark.; daughter, Julia Kimberley “Kim” Nunley of Sabinal, Texas; sister, Naomi McDonald of Fort Worth, Texas; and three granddaughters, Sarah Nunley, Caroline Nunley, and Grace Quinn.

STUTTGART - Ann C. Shirkey, 95, of Stuttgart, widow of OrinEdward Shirkey, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock.

Mrs. Shirkey was born May 18, 1917, in Slovak to Frank and Anna Suchan. She wasa waitress for several years at the Pam Pam and then The Red Pump until it closed. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

She enjoyed watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys play football, cooking, canning and playing bingo, but mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edwin Shirkey. Survivors are her daughter, Joan Minton of Little Rock; three granddaughters, Joanette Garwood (Scott) of Fort Worth, Lynn West (Mark) ofMayflower and Lori England (Mark) of Lonoke; and three great-grandsons, Matthew Cole of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Grant Garwood and Garrett Garwood of Fort Worth.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Stuttgart with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m. Friday with rosary being said at 6:30 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home.

He was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed riding four-wheelers, going mudding and playing the guitar. He was a self taught guitar player that enjoyed playing for family and friends.

WOODLAWN - Max Edgar Watts, 72, of Woodlawn, Ark., diedon May 22, 2012. Max was a lifelong educator and devoted himself to enriching the educational experience of children. Max served as Superintendent of Gillett and Woodlawn schools fora combined 40 years.

After attending public schools in Pleasant Plains, Max earned his Bachelor of Agriculture and Master of Education from Arkansas State University. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Woodlawn. Max was a highly respected teacher and a loving husband and father.

Max was also an avid “picker.” Max was famous for collecting all manner of appliances, small engines and equipment that would provide him endless hours of enjoyment as he breathed life back into previously under-appreciated items.

Max was born in Batesville, Ark., on September 11, 1939, to Willis Edgar Watts and Ella Hayes Watts. Max is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Bass Watts, and three children, Deborah Watts Bivens and Max Todd Watts, both of Woodlawn and David Watts (Samantha Gaston) of Little Rock, three grandchildren, Brandon Bivens, Logan Watts and Tristan Watts, sister Marguerite Southerland of Ash Flatand brother Richard “Dick” Watts of Temple, Texas.
