College to honor JoKay Smith with scholarship fund

— The Ozarka College Foundation Board recently announced the creation of the JoKay Smith Memorial Scholarship fund. Once the endowment goal of $10,000 is reached, a scholarship will be given to a Fulton County student each year.

Smith was a lifelong educator, teaching English in both the Couch and Thayer school districts. She began teaching at Mammoth Spring. After 42 years in education, she retired and accepted a teaching position at Ozarka College-Mammoth Spring.

Smith also served on both the Fulton County and Arkansas State Democratic committees, the Mammoth Spring Fish Hatchery Board, the George D. Hay Foundation Board and the Ozarka College Foundation Board.

For more information about how to donate to the JoKay Smith Memorial Scholarship fund, contact Hannah McWilliams, development officer, at (870) 368-2060 or hmcwilliams@ozarka.edu.
