Arkansas achievers

— Fred Hopkins, a teacher at Eureka Springs Middle School, has been selected for a fellowship to attend the Siemens STEM Institute. The program will take place just outside Washington, D.C., at the headquarters of Discovery Communications and will feature guest speakers, field trips to observe real-world applications of STEM subject matter and opportunities for networking and collaborating with peers from across the nation.

Elysium Travis of Bentonville has been awarded a music scholarship and an academic scholarship for 2012-2013 to attend Pittsburg State University. She is the daughter of Carla Green and Jim Travis and is a senior at Bentonville High School.

Arkansas State University-Beebe honored students at its annual Awards Banquet on April 5.

Jacklyn Morris of Jacksonville for ASU-Little Rock Air Force Base.

Carolyn Hendrix of Cabot for ASU-Searcy.

Melinda Kidd of Augusta for ASU-Searcy.

Brandin Gibbons of El Paso and Clay Sims of McCrory received awards for ASU Jonesboro programs held on the Beebe campus.

Debra Elgen, a liberal arts major, and Andrew Ross, a health sciences major, received the Citizenship Award. The award is ASU Beebe’s most prestigious and is based on overall academic and leadership qualities.

Michael Kelly, an associate professor of English, received the Positive Teacher Award.

Greg Asbury, a student development specialist in the Learning Center, was presented with the Positive Staff Award.

Arkansas Achievers is an opportunity to give recognition to those for their achievements.

Civilian and military achievements are accepted.
