Lynch questionable for NCAA regional

— While Arkansas’ baseball team went through its final on-campus practice Tuesday at Baum Stadium before departing for Houston, relief pitcher Cade Lynch was in a local hospital recovering from migraine headaches.

The Razorbacks play Sam Houston State on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Houston Regional.

“I wouldn’t say he’s out,” Arkansas pitching coach Dave Jorn said when asked about Lynch’s availability for the regional. “But at this point in time, I don’t know if you could count him in.

“He’s on our roster. Whenever he’s healthy enough to fly and get to Houston, he’ll be there and then we’ll just see where we’re at.”

Lynch, a junior left-hander from Jonesboro, is 3-1 this season with a 2.11 earned run average and 2 saves. His 47 innings pitched rank fifth on the team.

Lynch’s headaches became so severe last week at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., he was hospitalized there.

“Now it’s a matter of getting all [the medication] out of his system so he can get back to normal,” Jorn said. “Right now he has no energy.”
