Retired Supreme Court justice to speak in LR

— Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is slated to speak about his time on the high court at a lecture in central Arkansas.

Stevens served as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1975 until his retirement in 2010. Nominated by President Gerald Ford, Stevens recently published a memoir about his time with the court entitled, "Five Chiefs: A Supreme Court Memoir."

His lecture will be the keynote presentation of a conference hosted by the Arkansas Access to Justice and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock law school.

Stevens' lecture begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
