One man was taken to the hospital via helicopter after crashing his plane at a Conway airport.

Conway Police Department spokesperson Latresha Woodruff said that the accident occurred about noon on Wednesday. Witnesses at the scene said they heard what sounded like engine trouble from the single-engine plane that took off from the Conway Municipal Airport.

The pilot attempted to turn around and land, but clipped a series of trees and crashed through a fence at the airport.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
