Little Rock-based Dillard’s Inc. on Thursday reported a third-quarter profit of $48.5 million, or $1.01 a share, compared with $228.2 million, or $4.31 a share, a year ago. Excluding one-time tax items, the company earned 96 cents per share in the quarter, double what it earned in the period in 2011.
Windstream Corp., also reporting third quarter earnings, recorded a profit of $53.7 million, down from $78.1 million a year ago.
Dillard’s shares hit a new 52-week high after the company released its earnings. Windstream shares fell after opening at a 52-week low of $9.
