KidStage Fall Productions

SEARCY — Center on the Square’s Land O’ Frost KidStage fall productions will be held today through Saturday at Fellowship Bible Church, 1921 W. Beebe Capps. Forty-four children in second to 12th grades from Searcy and the surrounding area are involved in the KidStage program. The performances will be at 7 p.m. each day with a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Bald Knob Driver Safety Course

BALD KNOB — The Bald Knob AARP chapter and Central Baptist Church, 1507 W. Center, will offer an AARP Driver Safety course at the church from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Veterans and spouses can take the course at no cost with proper identification. Relay for Life Kickoff

SEARCY — The White County Relay for Life Committee will hold a 2013 Relay for Life Kickoff and Team Captain University at 8:30 a.m. at the Hampton Inn in Searcy. All past team members, team captains and Relay for Life volunteers are encouraged to attend. Relay for Life is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk that benefits the American Cancer Society. Anyone who wants to participate is encouraged to attend. Veterans Benefit Pig Roast

BALD KNOB — The Bald Knob Veterans Committee will hold an old-fashioned pig roast with all the trimmings from 4-7 p.m. at the Bald Knob Senior Center on Fourth Street. The cost is $6 per plate for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. All proceeds will go to the Bald Knob Veterans Memorial mural. Hope Moore Concert

CONCORD — Hope Moore and the Imagine That Band will perform in the new gymnasium at Concord High School. Moore’s mother, Raquel Hipp Moore, will be the opening act for the 16-year-old singer. A chili and hot dog supper will be held from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. The cost of admission is $5 per person. The event is sponsored by the junior class at Concord High School.

Church Bazaar

JACKSONVILLE — The St. Jude’s Catholic Church Bazaar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at 2403 McArthur Drive. On Nov. 10, donuts, coffee, juice and soups will be sold, as well as youth games and homemade items. The day will end with a pulled-pork plate dinner from 6-8 p.m. On Nov. 11, a full breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Raffle tickets for items will be on sale during the bazaar.

Solar Panel Workshop

BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community and Technical Education Division will host a Solar Panel class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and Nov. 17 at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. This grant-supported training is free, but preregistration is required. Stuart Hutton, a solar-panel enthusiast with a degree in physics, will teach the class. Each attendee will receive a solar panel for heating water. Class size is limited, and registration is required by calling (870) 612-2080.

Free Driving Classes for Veterans

NEWPORT/BATESVILLE — In November, all AARP Driver Safety Classes are free for veterans and their spouses/domestic partners, widows/widowers and children. The classes are open to all licensed drivers, but those who are 55 or older are guaranteed by state law to receive a discount on their automobile-insurance premiums for three years from the date of completion of the class. 'For Me' Potluck Fundraiser

SEARCY — Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission will hold its "For Me" Potluck, a countywide fundraising effort, on Sunday. White County Judge Michael Lincoln and Searcy Mayor David Morris have declared Nov. 11-17 as Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The intent of the “For Me” Potluck is to encourage participating churches in White County to conduct a congregational potluck with love offerings to benefit Jacob’s Place, which has an annual cost of operation of $73,000. Art Exhibit

ASH FLAT — The Ash Flat Public Library will show works of Glenda Plumlee, the library’s November Artist of the Month. Plumlee, who grew up in Salem, is a self-taught artist. She is a member of Mid-South Watercolorists. Watercolor, drawing and pen and ink are her mediums of choice. In 2004, she helped to organize the Fulton County Arts Council and serves as a board member. Through the council, she has taught children and adult art classes.

Fantasy in Lights Contest

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Advertising and Promotion Commission, along with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department, will host the Jacksonville: Fantasy in Lights Contest for the best decorated home, street, business or church in Jacksonville for Christmas. Nominees will be accepted through Dec. 17, and judging will be after 6 p.m. Dec. 18. Winners will receive a monetary award, a “Winner” sign for their yard and recognition in local newspapers. Symphonic Band Concert

Holiday Gala Ball

NEWPORT — A Holiday Gala Ball will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Jacksonport State Park Courthouse. The event will be a throwback to the past, and the 52nd Regimental String Band from Memphis, Tenn., will perform music from the 19th century. The evening will begin with ballroom dancing instruction under the lights of courtroom chandeliers. Refreshments will be served throughout the evening. Ducks Unlimited Banquet

SEARCY — The Hurricane Lake Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold a fundraiser banquet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the White County Fairgrounds. Nonmembers are invited, and Ducks Unlimited membership is included with admission. Funds raised support waterfowl and wetlands conservation. Tickets are $70 for a couple or $45 for individuals. The cost for ages 17 and younger is $15. There will be silent and live auctions, as well as a raffle drawing and door prizes. There will also be kids’ games.

Christmas Art Fair

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council Art Gallery on Main, 246 E. Main St., will hold a Christmas art fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17. Several artists will be in the gallery displaying their work. Those works, along with other items housed in the gallery, will be for sale.

Victorian Dutch-Oven Workshop

POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will offer a Victorian Dutch-oven workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 17. The workshop will focus on baking bread. Registration for the workshop is $35, which includes all materials. Participants will receive a Dutch-oven accessory kit and a recipe booklet.

MAMMOTH SPRING — Ozarka College–Mammoth Spring will offer heating, ventilation and air conditioning courses as part of continuing education, from Nov. 26 through Dec. 21. Karate class at UACCB

BATESVILLE — Sensei Don Gregory, 4th-degree black belt/full-range close combat instructor, will teach a training course, Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate, starting in January at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. The course is a traditional martial arts class that offers present-day applications of Shorin-Ryu Karate techniques.
