Norwegian killer complains of prison conditions

By The Associated Press

This article was published November 9, 2012 at 8:19 a.m.

Mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik makes a salute after he arrives at an Oslo courtroom Friday.

— Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, serving a 21-year sentence for killing 77 people, has complained that he is being held in inhumane conditions and is being denied freedom of expression.

His lawyer, Tord Jordet, said Breivik wrote in a letter to prison officials that he has not been given the possibility of expressing political opinions and is not allowed to read every letter addressed to him in the prison.

Prison officials were not available for immediate comment Friday.

The 33-year-old right-winger was found sane during a lengthy trial that ended in August with the Oslo District Court finding him guilty of terrorism and premeditated murder for the July 22, 2011, attacks.

Breivik’s sentence can be extended for as long as he is considered a danger to society.

Personally, I couldn't care less if he isn't allowed to read all of his mail or express his political opinions. He gave up those rights when he decided to murder innocent children in cold blood. I think he should have to listen to interviews 24/7 from the families that have suffered loss at his hands. Even that wouldn't be considered cruel or unusual punishment in my opinion. The families have to live with the consequences of his actions every day - I think he should too.

If he doesn't like it in prison, he should serve his sentence and not make it necessary to be sent back. He'll probably be there until the 12th of never. A 21 year sentence is pretty light for murdering so many.

Breivik is such a whiner. He's way out of touch with reality. PRISON = NO FREEDOM. Duh!

How would you like to live in a society where they even allow this guy to live?
