Weekend Theater moves auditions after wreck into building

— The Weekend Theater in Little Rock is moving this weekend’s auditions for a 2013 production of “Company” because of damage caused by a vehicle that crashed into its building Wednesday.

However, the showings of the drama “Raft of the Medusa,” set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, will still be at the theater. The shows will be limited to 49 seats because of damage to the “risers,” theater officials said.

Theater volunteer Libby A. Smith hadn’t heard official word on damage but said the car missed any support beams when it crashed into the theater.

The auditions, set for 10 a.m. Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, will instead be held at the Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church at the corner of 16th and Louisiana streets in Little Rock.

The theater seeks six men and eight women who appear at least 25 years old.

Performances of the musical comedy are scheduled for March 8-24, after rehearsals running from Feb. 9 through March 7.
