— Kate Ashley Duran and Robert Taylor Bateman Stallings were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in Christ Church Cathedral, Houston. The Rev. James M.L. Grace officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Melissa and Robert Duran Jr. of Houston. Her grandparents are Constance and the late Harry K. Whittaker of Salina, Kan., and Alda and Robert Duran of Kerrville, Texas.

The groom is the son of Claudia Hammans Stallings and Dr. James Walt Stallings, both of Little Rock. He is the grandson of Jeanne and the late Charles Erle Hammans Jr. of Stuttgart and Jean Stallings of Little Rock and the late Alan Eugene Stallings.

The altar held large white arrangements of wedding flowers. Music was by organist Monica Czausz, with the recessional by Lars Sloan on the bagpipes. Readers were Esther Freedman and Sarah Scroggins.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white silk-satin gown with a sweetheart scalloped neckline and ribbon banding at the waist. The flared trumpet skirt was banded in a chevron pattern and the hem and chapel train were embellished with scalloped eyelash lace. Her jacket was made of sheer illusion and French lace. Her bouquet of white roses and cascading white orchids was wrapped in two Italian linen handkerchiefs given to her by her mother and godmother.

Zachary Hargis Duran of Houston served as his sister’s honor attendant.

Best man was James Walt Hammans Stallings of Austin, Texas, brother of the groom.

Guests were seated by Jefferson Davis Mickel, William Thomas Elser and John Michael France, all of Houston, and Sonny Ruben Garcia of Dallas.

A reception at the Petroleum Club of Houston followed the ceremony. Guest tables were centered with arrangements of white orchids, hydrangeas and roses. Music was by Fried Ice Cream.

The bride is a graduate of Texas A&M University, College Station, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a member of Chi Omega. She is employed as a health, environment and safety technical analyst at Chevron in Houston.

The groom graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in economics and Hispanic studies. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and served as pledge class president. He is a regulatory reporting analyst at Shell Trading.

The couple will live in Houston after a wedding trip to Mexico.
