— A driver was killed and passenger injured Sunday when a vehicle rolled multiple times on Interstate 30 in Clark County.

Arkansas State Police say it happened shortly after 3 p.m. as 67-year-old Thomas Gulley, of Malvern, was driving a 2004 Ford west on the highway at the 60 mile-marker, which is about three miles west of Arkanssa 53.

According to a preliminary report, Gulley overcorrected after the Ford struck a rumble strip, sending the vehicle into a spin. It then rolled twice before hitting a tree, police said.

Gulley was dead at the scene. A passenger, identified as 53-year-old Sandra Dean Dendy, was taken to Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Police say it was raining at the time, though it wasn't clear if the weather contributed to the single-vehicle accident.

Gulley was the 463rd person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
