First freeze of year recorded in LR

— The National Weather Service reported that Little Rock recorded its first freeze of the season Tuesday.

Temperatures fell to freezing for the first time of the year in Little Rock, Pine Bluff and Hot Springs on Tuesday, while other locations around the state have already recorded their first freezes of the 2012 season, the weather service said.

Little Rock's earliest first freeze ever recorded was on Oct. 20 in 1989, while in 1998, the latest first freeze wasn't until Dec. 9.

According to the National Weather Service, Little Rock is right on schedule with an average first freeze date of Nov. 13.

Hot Springs and Pine Bluff are a little behind on their average first freezes. Hot Springs' average is Nov. 9, and Pine Bluff's average is Nov. 10.
