NLR’s Park Hill to hold ‘walkability workshop’

The Park Hill neighborhood of North Little Rock will be the subject of a Thursday event aimed at making the area friendlier to foot traffic.

The “walkability workshop” will be held from 4-8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3802 N. Olive St.

Participants will walk from the church to various points in the neighborhood and observe the conditions of the intersections and streets by taking photos, sketching, watching traffic and measuring curbs and street widths, according to a statement by the Park Hill Neighborhood Association.

The observations are aimed at encouraging physical activity and economic development in the area, the statement said.

Afterward, walkers to return to the church about 5:30 p.m. for a potluck dinner and a presentation on ‘walkability.' Safety, aesthetics, and visions for the future are on the agenda, the association said.

Students of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service will work with the city to generate a final report and a presentation to the association on possible steps for improving the neighborhood.

Those who want more information or to make reservations may call Bernadette Rhodes, the city’s Fit 2 Live coordinator, at (501) 975-8777 or may e-mail her at brhodes@northlittlerock.ar.gov.
