OBITUARIES

Charles M. Claycomb, 87, of Bella Vista, Ark., recently died on Nov. 3, 2012, while being cared for by hospice in Bentonville, Ark.

He was born Dec.

20, 1924, to Royal and Madeline Claycomb in Marshall, Mo. They later moved to Lindsborg, Kan.

He graduated in 1944 as valedictorian of his class.

He married Virginia Perry on Jan. 27, 1946.

They hopped on a train for him to play the trumpet with Don Reid’s Big Band until 1947-48. They moved to Guymon, Okla., in 1947. He worked for Claycomb Battery and Electric. Later he was employed with Northern Natural Gas Company for 32 years. His main passions were fishing, camping, and going to the mountains.

They moved to Bella Vista in 1986. They are members of the Bella Vista Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jenny Swenson.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Claycomb, Bentonville; two daughters, Sandra Hedrick (Steve), Hooker, Okla., and Linda Quinter (Ken), Pottstown, Penn.; four grandchildren, Travis Quinter, Todd Quinter, Karmyn Heckart, Kaleb Hedrick; and four greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service was Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Bella Vista Community Church.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Bella Vista Public Library.

Robert H. Mauss

Robert H. Mauss diedOct. 6, 2012, at the Highlands Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church on Boyce Drive. All friends are invited to attend.

Wayne L.

McChesney

Wayne L. McChesney, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark .,Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville, Ark., after a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 15, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Ircel and Lucille Lindsey McChesney.

He was raised in Carthage, Mo., and attended Carthage High School and Pittsburg State Teachers College. He was a Sears manager for 35 years. During his 35 year career with Sears he took an active role in the community as president of the Nebraska Retail Federation Board and was instrumental in rekindling the ailing Junior Olympics. He was a member of Village Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 50 years.

He was privileged to go on mission trips to Brazil and Romania. In Bella Vista besides playing golf he helped several low-income families buy houses. He created the nonprofit organization PTW Associates to teach people how to get out of debt.

On Feb. 19, 1960, he married Sharon K. Houk in Joplin, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Brian (Todd) McChesney, Liberty, Mo., and Patrick McChesney, Tempe, Ariz.; and one grandson Nicklous McChesney, Liberty.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista with burial at Ozark Cemetery, Joplin, Mo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Village Baptist Church or The Lottie Moon Christmas Fund.

Bobby Ray Miller

Bobby Ray Miller, 80, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Concordia Health & Rehab in Bella Vista. He was born on May 13, 1932, in Hayti, Mo., to Roy Garvin Miller and Mary Belle Creech Miller.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a pilot and loved his career as an air traffic controller. Besides his family, he loved golfing, dogs and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lloyd and Willis.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Miller, of Bella Vista, Ark; a daughter, Laura James (Andy), Anderson, Mo.; a son Phillip Miller (Glenda), Overland Park, Kan.; and six grandchildren, Amy, Megan, Chrissy, Sam, Jennifer, and Amanda.

A memorial service was on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, Bella Vista.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
