LITTLE ROCK Police are looking for a man who robbed two women of their purses at gunpoint Monday in Little Rock's River Market district.
The Little Rock Police Department said the women were walking in a parking lot in the 600 block of President Clinton Avenue about 7:20 p.m. when a man pointed a handgun at them and demanded their purses. The two women handed them over, and the man left north through the lot, according to a report.
The robber is described as a black man between 17 and 20 years old who stands about 5-foot-4 and weighs about 120 pounds. He was wearing a yellow-and-red bandanna, a burgundy hat and baggy bluejeans, the report said.
Police say the purses and some of the contents were recovered in the area.
No arrests have been made.

I'm surprised this story made the newspaper, LR doesn't like these stories about crime in River Market getting out.

Apparently this and the other robberies in today's paper don't classify as violent crimes as the LRPD Chief said violent crimes are down. I think the man is delusional. Furthermore, there is no way I'd visit the River Market.

Sooner or later the paper will have to report "Robber got what they deserved" as when the robber accidentally picks an ARMED "victim" that blows the theifs brains out..... I'm hoping for sooner and if they try to rob me it will be..

Every crime you see on TV or in the newspaper, same story, black man etc., for the rest of the story. I for one, am just about sick of it. And they want respect. You don't get respect at the end of a gun barrel.

Another "good boy" committing a crime...and picking on women to boot. Too bad neither of these women were in a position to just beat the stuffing out of this cowardly thief..

I live on the other side of the state and downtown Memphis is my entertainment destination. Having said that, I've been to both many times and, as bad a reputation as Memphis has, Rivermarket is way scarier. I won't be back if I can help it.

Can be very scary in the Rivermarket.....a group or alone, the robbers don't care.
