LR museum makes interim director permanent

— The Department of Arkansas Heritage has named Sericia Cole director of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, effective immediately.

Cole had been serving as interim director of the Little Rock museum, which offers exhibits and programs about blacks in Arkansas from 1870 to the present day.

“Sericia has been doing a great job at the MTCC helm since June,” Arkansas Heritage Director Cathie Matthews said in a statement. “We are thrilled that she will remain with us and guide the important work that MTTC does in the community and the state. Her enthusiasm and leadership are a wonderful match to our staff.”

Cole previously served as director of external affairs in Gov. Mike Beebe’s office, where she dealt with issues related to minority-member affairs, starting in June 2010; and as director of public relations at Philander Smith College for four years before that, according to the statement.
