— The Old State House Museum in Little Rock is putting on a living history event about the events that led up to the 1862 Civil War battle at Prairie Grove.

The event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and will examine the political and military buildup prior to the battle.

The museum said costumed interpreters and Civil War re-enactors will be on hand. There will be hands-on activities for children. The interpreters will debate the political issues that were prevalent in Arkansas at the time.

Admission is free.

The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
