— Sarah Marie Henkel and Nicholas Andrew Volgas were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Marlsgate Plantation, Scott. The Rev. Mark Saline, godfather of the groom, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Linda and Keith Henkel, 4212 Bear Tree Drive and the granddaughter of Juanita and the late Jack Somerville of Owensboro, Ky., and the late Imelda and Hubert Henkel of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

Parents of the groom are Julie and the late Greg Volgas of Bartlett, Tenn. His grandparents are Irene and Jim Volgas of Bartlett and Mary Jane and the late Harold Mullins of Cadiz, Ky.

Vows were exchanged on the front steps of the plantation home with nuptial music by the Jarboe String Quartet.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a cafe-colored charmeuse gown with an overlay of beaded Alencon lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses, dahlias and French spray roses.

Maid of honor was Sarah Osmer of Austin, Texas. Bridesmaids were Sarah Knowles of Memphis, Virginia Fall of Alexandria, La.; Jackie Ward of San Francisco; Christine Billingsley of Morgan; and Kelli Bailey of Little Rock. They wore off-the-shoulder claret-colored taffeta cocktail dresses and carried bouquets of gold dahlias, bronze calla lilies, seeded eucalyptus, hypericum berry, roses and orange rose hips.

Best man was Britt Bowden of Knoxville, Tenn., cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Christopher Dorsett of Birmingham, Ala.; Cameron Goodman and Alex Iberg, both of Memphis; Andrew Henkel of Little Rock, brother of the bride; and Anthony Billingsley of Morgan.

A tented reception on Marlsgate’s lawn followed the ceremony. Tables held round mirrors centered with cylinders filled with curly willow branches, bells of Ireland, green celosia and roses grouped with antique lanterns. Assisting were Laura Johnson, Ashley Evans, Allison Robertson and Mattie Baker, all of Little Rock.

The bride has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Rhodes College in Memphis where she was a member of Chi Omega. She is a second year pharmacy student at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a pharmacy intern at Cornerstone Pharmacy.

The groom has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Rhodes College and is a software developer at Information Network of Arkansas.

The couple will live in Little Rock after a honeymoon in Carmel, Calif.
