— The Central Arkansas football team earned a first-round bye in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs and will play at Georgia Southern on Dec. 1.

The Bears (9-2) won a share of the Southland Conference championship with Sam Houston State. They have won six consecutive and beat Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Illinois 48-30 on Saturday.

Georgia Southern (8-3) is the No. 5 seed in the 20-team FCS bracket, which was released Sunday. The Eagles are tri-champions of the Southern Conference with Appalachian State and Wofford, but earned the league's automatic berth.

The UCA-Georgia Southern winner will face Old Dominion, Bethune-Cookman or Coastal Carolina in a quarterfinal game Dec. 7 or Dec. 8.
