Arkansas gets $1.5 million in settlement with drug maker

Arkansas is to receive more than $1.5 million as part of a 38-state settlement with drug maker GlaxoSmithKline LLC over the way it promoted the use of the diabetes drug Avandia.
Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel on Monday announced the state took part in a $90 million settlement with the states.
Arkansas' share of the settlement is $1,557,495.30, according to the attorney general's website.
The company was accused of misrepresenting the risks of heart attack and stroke associated with Avandia.
The settlement requires GlaxoSmithKline to not make false, misleading or deceptive claims about any diabetes drugs.
