Malzahn to address LRTD club

Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn will be the featured speaker at the Little Rock Touchdown Club today at the Embassy Suites in west Little Rock.

Malzahn and the Red Wolves are 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the Sun Belt Conference after beating Troy 41-34 on Saturday. Arkansas State can clinch an outright Sun Belt title with a victory over Middle Tennessee on Dec. 1.

The cost is $15 for members, $25 for nonmembers and $10 for those who want to attend and not eat. Club memberships are $50. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and the program will begin at noon.

UCA wins Southland tournament

Central Arkansas beat Oral Roberts 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 25-21 in the Southland Conference Tournament final on Sunday in Conway, sending UCA to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Senior Jessica Hays was named the tournament’s most valuable player after notching 28 kills and 14 digs. Marissa Collins, who was named to the all-tournament team with Hays and Jessica Nagy, had 50 assists and 10 digs and Shelbee Berringer finished with 25 digs.

The NCAA Tournament field will be announced at 3 p.m. on Nov. 25.

Razorbacks win in four sets

Jasmine Norton had 17 kills and Roslandy Acosta had 13 to help Arkansas win the final three sets of a 17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Mississippi on Sunday in Fayetteville.

Raymariely Santos had 45 assists and Acosta and Emily Helm each had 15 digs for the Razorbacks (21-8, 12-6 SEC).

Naketa Clair led Mississippi (11-16, 5-13) with 14 kills.
