The Little Rock Zoo has hatched its first penguin chick, officials announced Wednesday.

The zoo said in a statement that the still-unnamed chick was born Oct. 30 to parents Skipper and Easy, who are now keeping it warm and feeding it regurgitated fish in a nest box.

The chick, whose gender is also not yet known, is expected to remain out of the exhibit until it's about 70 days old or until the parents let it out of the nest.

The chick appears to be healthy, the zoo said, noting it has grown from about a tenth of a pound to a little more than 2 pounds in less than a month.

The Little Rock Zoo on Wednesday announced that a baby penguin was hatched late last month.
