MAROLYN RUTH BEALL, age 87, of Little Rock, passed away on November 20, 2012 in Conway. She was born on November 16, 1925 in Faulkner County, Arkansas; she was the daughter of Thomas Norwood Foster and Effie Wilkerson-Foster. Marolyn was a retired cashier, and was an active member of Mabelvale Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband Allen Beall, her parents, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include her two daughters Allene Sorensen and Patricia Vines; grandchildren Dan Vines of Peachtree City, Georgia and Barbra Jean Power of Conway, four great-grandchildren and a sister in law Doreen Foster.

JAMES (BOSS) ROBERT CAHILL departed this life surrounded byhis children on November 19, 2012. Born in New York City on November 29, 1938 he became a transplanted Southerner almost 50 years ago.

He was preceded in deathby his sister, Mary, his brother, William (Billy), and his parents James and Anne. He is survived by his children, David Wayne (Dawn), Margaret Alice (Jim), and Joyce Ann (Jim). He was a beloved grandfather (Boss) to his grandchildren, Jamie, Heather, Brandie, Benjamin, and Ryan. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to his only great-grandchild, Selah. He is also survived by a brother, Henry, and several cousins in Yankee land.

He worked for the American Red Cross Blood Services for over thirty years before his retirement. He lived life to the fullest. Now his journey begins.

TSgt JAMES E. CREECH, Retired USAF, Vietnam Vet departed thislife on November 16, 2012 in Sherwood, Ark. He was born December 26, 1929 in Fordyce, Ark.

This loving husband and father is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl; daughters,Dorothy Varnell and son-in-law, Kenneth Varnell, Kim Carlisle, Heather Lamson, and son, Richard Lamson; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Creech loved and served his country. His name is inscribed on the National Air Force Memorial in Washington, DC.

LILLIAN RUTH ECKHARDT, 81, of Little Rock passed awaySaturday, Nov. 17, 2012. She was born to Sethel and Ellie (Barnes) Eckhardt on December 16, 1930, in Page, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Churchin Little Rock where she served as the Pastor’s Secretary and later retired from the Arkansas Baptist State Convention where she worked in the Missions Department.

She is survived by nephews, Wesley (Dalena) Mourton of Hot Springs, Leon (Linda) Mourton of Little Rock, Gary (Gayle) Mourton of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Kenneth Mourton of Fayetteville and Roy (Judy) Hawkins of Shawnee, Oklahoma; cousins, Holly Trantham of Little Rock, Jack (Jane) Barnes of Mena and Betty Patillo of Texarkana; and a host of nieces and nephews and special friend, Mary Kay Blevins of Little Rock.

LEE H. EVANS JR. of North Little Rock passed away Sunday,November 18, 2012. He was born on August 26, 1925, to the late Lee H. Evans and Selma Caroline Hansen. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943, and joined the U.S. Navy later that year as a Seabee. During World War II he served in the Philippines and China doing construction work.

Lee returned to Little Rock after the war, andhe began to work for Southwestern Bell in 1947 as an installer and later as an engineer. After retiring from the phone company in 1983, Lee pursued a second career as a real estate agent and broker. He retired from the real estate profession in late 2011.

Lee and his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Rettig Evans, were devoted members of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Lee is survived by Geraldine, son Ron Evans (Debbie), a daughter Kathy Shoemaker, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE - Colleen Marie Kephart, age 72, of Batesville,Ark., left her earthly body on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the local hospital.

She was born at Huff, Ark., on February 11, 1940, to Thearon Ray and Grace Marie Moore. She was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High school, and attended Arkansas College in Batesville. She had served as an executive secretary, but upon return to Independence County she had busied herself as a homemaker, gardener and church volunteer. She was an active member of the Independence Missionary Baptist Church of Pleasant Plains.

Colleen was preceded in death by her father, Thearon (T.R.) Moore. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, George Kephart of the home. Additionally, she is survived by the following: her mother, Grace Marie Moore of Batesville; a daughter, Rexeen Marie Jordan (Mike) of Jonesboro; a son, Ron Lucy (Anna) of Batesville; a stepdaughter, Julie Ann Kephart of Trumansburg, N.Y.; and a stepson, Gary Kephart (Laura) of Ladera Ranch, Calif. Surviving siblings include: a sister, Vonnie Deal (Don) of Bethany, Okla.; brothers Covie Moore (Patsy) and Dennis F Moore of Batesville.Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren, Tyler Lucy, Amber Huff, Christopher Conrad, Michelle Jordan and Michael Jordan, seven great grandchildren and five nieces.

The measure of a life can never be reduced to the specifics of birth, death, ancestors and survivors. Rather, the depth of character, the sweetness of spirit, and kindness of heart aremuch better indicators. Considering those measurements, Colleen was a giant among individuals and will be dearly missed by all with which she has ever had contact.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 2 p.m., Independence Missionary Baptist Church, Pleasant Plains, with Brad Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Kyler Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 6-8 p.m., at Qualls Funeral Home, 546 Harrison Street, Batesville, Ark.

BEEBE - Gary W. Gorbet, 66, of Beebe, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, after a brave and courageous battle with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Berlin and Eva Grace Gorbet; also a sister, Judy Hawthorne. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Diane Gorbet; two sons, Damon Gorbet of Jackson, Tennessee and Mark Gorbet of Sherwood; four grandchildren, Andrew Gorbet, Megan Gorbet, Chloe Gorbet and Madison Gorbet; one brother, Larry Gorbet of Lonoke; also a host of relatives and friends. Gary is currently the pastor of FirstBaptist Church of Brownsville in Lonoke.

He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad with 36 years of service. He was an independent business owner and entrepreneur of an internet marketing company, and also served in the active National Guard. Gary touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

BENTON - Pat Collins Bryant, 76, of Benton, left this world onNovember 19, 2012 to join God Almighty. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Wayne Bryant, cherished mother and father, Bill and Dove Collins all of Benton.

Pat is survived by two daughters, Theresa Treece and fiance’ Ralph Ryan of Paragould, Debra and Johnny “O” Obergfell of Sherwood; two grandsons, Jason and Brian Brannen; greatgranddaughter, Karleigh; brothers, Gene Collins of Haskell and Jimmy Collins of Lakeland, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Obergfell, John Harris, Jason Brannen, Ralph Ryan, Jerry Brannen, and Bob Winkler. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Homewill be 2 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2012. At Pat’s request, there will be no formal visitation. There will be a private graveside ceremony for immediate family only, where she will be laid to rest in peace beside her beloved husband and our father.

BRYANT - Peggy G. Loy Wallace, age 82, of Bryant, passedaway peacefully on November 19, 2012. The Wallaces moved to Bryant in 1963, building the first home in Tanglewood Acres. She loved her yard, and was happiest when caring for her family.She loved to make homemade rolls at every occasion, often sending them to neighbors.

After her youngest son started school, she worked at Bryant Dairy King and later Bob’s Thriftway. Peggy loved visiting with the customers and making new friends. She suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in 2007 and moved to Fox Ridge Estates in Bryant. She lived there until May 2012, when declining health made it necessary to move to Heartland Health and Rehab Center. Peggy suffered another stroke in November and was cared for at Saline Hospice House until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Wallace, birth father, James Loy, and her stepfather that raised her, Rev. Earnest W. Goodson. She leaves behind her mother, Virginia E. Goodson of Ferndale, two sisters, Mary Garlington and husband, Boyce, Ginny Blaylock and husband, Buddy; five children, John Wallace, Velma Wallace, Libby Jones and husband, Jim, Faith Robinson and husband, Rick, Charles Wallace and wife, Samme; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Triplett and husband, David, Jessica Wallace, Greg Wallace and wife, Hannah, Andrea Wallace, Jayce Jones and wife, Sarah, Mandy Hamilton and husband, Chris, Josh Robinson, Brittany Robinson, Evan Wallace and Olivia Wallace; great-grandchildren, Sam and Lucy Triplett, Astoria Wallace, Kavi Garlapati, Chloe and Balend Bland and Laci Hamilton, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Cisco.

CABOT - Patricia “Skipper” Lape Bennett, 71, of Cabotpassed away Sunday, November 18, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Bennett; sons, Gary Bennett (Terri) of Little Rock and Mark Bennett (Kathy) ofCarlisle; two grandsons, Reid and Graham Bennett; and step granddaughter, Anna Cooper and her daughter, Hayden.

Patricia was a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s Academy, Little Rock University (now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock) and a charter member of the Chi Omega chapter at LRU. She taught high school in Carlisle and Pine Bluff for several years before becoming a homemaker.

Patricia will be remembered for her love of animals (especially stray cats); her family genealogy research and research in Lonoke County, Ark.; she was alongtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and making really good baked goods for the Moose Lodge dinners and especially chocolate chip cookies.

CAMDEN - Sherry June Spiva Freeland, age 67, of Camden, Ark., passed away in her home Tuesday, November 20, 2012 after an extended illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She retired from court reporting after 31 years of service.

EL DORADO - Heidi Lucette Giller Meadows, 50, of El Doradowho loved God, her family, and music, went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born June 4, 1962 in Little Rock, Ark. to Dr. Walter John Giller and LucieMurphy Giller. She was a 1980 salutatorian graduate of El Dorado High School and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in economics. Soon after, Heidi became a certified public accountant in the state of Arkansas. She was a member of the Civitan, ServiceLeague, South Arkansas Symphony, SAS Chamber Players, Hot Springs Flute Ensemble, DAR, and Daughters of the King at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she was an active member of the church. She was a participant in many Flute Master Classes, most notably the James Galway International Flute Master Class and Convention.

Preceding her in death are her father, Dr. Walter John Giller Jr.; brother, Walter John Giller III; grandparents, Carmen Ivy Murphy, Walter John Giller and Violet McRae Giller. Survivors include her daughter, Julia McRae Meadows of Fayetteville, Ark.; her son, John Scott Meadows of Hot Springs, Ark.; her mother, Lucie Murphy Giller of El Dorado; sister, Amy Giller Heyman and husband Steve and their children Rachel Heyman, and Daniel Heyman of Syracuse, New York; and sister, Mary Ann Giller Moore and husband Wayne and their children Jett Moore, Jackson Moore andDavis Moore of Little Rock, Ark.; grandfather, Dr. Randolph Murphy and his wife Jewell; and her late brother’s children, Walter John Giller IV, and Blake Randolph Giller; her stepmother, Bertha Giller of El Dorado.

Katie was a member of the Unity Baptist Church since 1967 and was co-founder of General Farm Services with her husband. She was a graduate of Guernsey High School. She was loved by her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband of 40 years, Harold Bobo; four brothers, Hubert, Leo, Orville and Jerrell; one sister, Mabel. Mrs. Bobo is survived by her children: two sons, Rodney Bobo and wife Sharon of Hope, Arkansas and Randy Bobo and wife Angie of Hope, Arkansas; two daughters, Bonnie Puckett and husband Mike of Hope, Arkansas and Becky Webster and husband Warren of Washington, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.

SEARCY - Thomas Richard Nance, 63, of Searcy, died Sunday, November 18, 2012. He was born April 19, 1949, in Searcy, the son of James Kyle and Betty Jean Smith Nance. Tommy graduated from Forrest City High School in 1968. He served in the United States Marine Corps from August, 1968, until August, 1972, serving one full year with the 1st Marine Air Wing in Danang, South Vietnam. He then enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard andattended officer training school. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1975. At the time of his retirement from the Army Reserve in 1994 as a major, he had served his country for 26 years. During and after his military service, he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. He was a member of the College Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis May Nance, of Searcy; a son, James Coe Nance and his wife, Leigh; a grandson, James Coe Nance Jr. of Jonesboro; a sister; Stephanie Moore and her husband, John, of Tallahassee, Florida; and an aunt, Franchelle Harrell of Newport. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly May Nance; and a brother; James “Jim” Nance II.

WHITE HALL - John “J. P.” Paul Jones, age 80, of White Hall, died Monday, November 19, 2012. BornJune 7, 1932 in Sheridan, J.P. was a son of the late William Wallace Jones and Nannie Eron Wallace Jones. He graduated from Warren High School and Arkansas A&M College (now UAMonticello). He also served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Jones founded Jones, Jones, and Jones Tax Service in 1964, and operated it for 46 years until his retirement in 2010. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and playing dominoes. He especially en-joyed doting on all of his 11 grandchildren, who adored him. Some of the best memories were made on Greer’s Ferry Lake, where all of his family would gather for rides on the party barge, four-wheelers, and playing games, especially basketball. G-Daddy was a very special person.

Predeceasing Mr. Jones are four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn Finkbeiner Jones, whom he married on February 6, 1954 at Greenville, Miss.; sons, Scotty Jones of Monticello, Chris Jones (Julie) and Dean Jones all of Austin, Texas, John P. “Jay” Jones Jr. of White Hall, and Mark Jones (Beth) of Russellville; daughter, Cindy Jones Monteith of Russellville; brother, Fred Jones of Mt. Ida; grandchildren, Laurel Stricklin (Beau) of Honolulu, Hawaii, John Paul “Jayson” Jones, III (Scarlett) of Benton, Bryant Monteith, and Matthew, Amanda, and Douglas Jones, all of Austin, Texas, Megan Terry (Arlington) of Columbus, Miss., Anna Jonesof Kingsland, Hudson and Tabor Jones of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Sammy Jones of Russellville; great-grandchildren, Paris, Cole, Tucker, and Sailor Stricklin of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Natalie Terry of Columbus, Miss.; along withhis special cats, Cali and Oreo.
