State: 3 main roads to see lane closures over holiday

— The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will have minimal lane closures on major highways during the Thanksgiving weekend.

The department identified three sections of highways that will have reduced travel lanes over the holiday:

Interstate 40 in eastern Arkansas — reduced to one lane in each direction in the vicinity of the White River bridge in Prairie County. The lane closure extends from mile marker 198 to mile marker 202 for eastbound traffic, and from mile marker 198 to mile marker 206 for westbound traffic. Motorists should consider alternate routes around the construction area. Alternate routes include U.S. 70, which runs parallel to Interstate 40 to the south, or U.S. 64 to the north, between Marion and Bald Knob.

Arkansas 245 in Texarkana — reduced to one lane in each direction extending from Interstate 30 southward to U.S. 82.

Interstate 530 in Jefferson County — traffic is limited to the northbound lanes and reduced to one lane in each direction, extending from the Jefferson exit in Jefferson County north to the Pulaski County line.

The Thanksgiving weekend is historically the busiest travel weekend of the year, and motorists should take that into consideration when making travel plans, the department said.
