Fog spurs pileup near LA; 4 hurt

— A seven-car pileup on the 22 Freeway in California overnight Friday was blamed on dense fog, which forecasters said would remain a problem through today.

The crash occurred about 2:35 a.m. Saturday near the Magnolia exit on the 22 Freeway in Orange County, according to KTLA News. At least four people, including a motorcyclist, were transported to local hospitals for treatment, officials said.

All westbound lanes were closed while the crash was cleaned up.

A dense-fog warning was in effect throughout Southern California through Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said Friday night.

Visibility was expected to be reduced to 50 feet or less in some areas, officials said.

The dense fog was expected to affect Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties, said Todd Hall, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
