Woodson grocery store robbed at gunpoint

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is investigating an aggravated robbery that took place on Saturday night at Woodson Grocery located at 8300 Woodson Lateral Road in Woodson.

Kurshid Alam, the store clerk, told officers that two black males came into the store, displayed a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Alam told officers that the robbers entered the back room of the store and forced him and another clerk, Dennis Montgomery, to lie on the floor at gunpoint. One of the robbers took an unknown amount of tobacco after forcing Alam to empty the cash register, police said. Alam told police that he believed the losses were about $3,000, but plans to conduct an inventory to determine an exact amount.

Leonard King, Jr., a store customer, was also robbed during the incident. King told officers that the two robbers demanded all of his money at gunpoint and he estimated his loss to be about $65, a news release states.

Surveillance footage showed one black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with a white bandanna and blue jeans, and the other black male was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with white accents and was also wearing blue examination gloves, police said in a statement.

Police said witnesses reported that the robbers left the store and ran behind a church located near the store and left the area north on Highway 365 South in an unknown four-door black car.
