Little Rock police investigating a suspect who escaped from an officer Monday at a gas station arrest a man Monday at the La Quinta Inn on Fair Park Boulevard. Three others were arrested there as well.

11:29 a.m. update

A man who was attempting to cash in stolen lottery tickets fled from an officer after being handcuffed Monday, but authorities recaptured him about an hour later in a nearby hotel room, police said.

Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Cassandra Davis said police also arrested at least two other men and recovered "a number of lottery tickets" in the hotel room.

It started about 9:15 a.m. when a man tried to cash the stolen tickets at the Mapco at 12th Street and Fair Park Boulevard, Davis said in a statement.

Workers at the store locked the man inside until an officer responded and handcuffed him. But the man, whose name has not yet been released, got away from the officer and ran from the business.

Authorities canvassed the area, taking in a K-9 and searching surrounding neighborhoods. But a receipt left at the scene ultimately led them to room 235 at the La Quinta Inn on Fair Park. The man who ran and three others were led out of the room in handcuffs shortly after 10 a.m.

"The investigation is ongoing," Davis said. "Detectives will attempt to identify from where the lottery tickets were stolen and how many were in the suspects’ possession."

Police say additional information on the suspects will be released once a report is complete.

10:22 a.m. update

Police have arrested a man who reportedly fled from an officer after being handcuffed Monday at a Little Rock gas station.

The man was reportedly cuffed shortly after 9 a.m. before he got away from the officer and ran at the Mapco at 12th Street and Fair Park Boulevard.

Authorities traced him to a hotel room at the La Quinta Inn on Fair Park Boulevard, where he and three others were taken out in handcuffs.

Police have not released the names of any of those arrested or indicated why the other three were taken into custody.

A spokesman for the Little Rock Police Department said a report had not yet been filed and she had no information on the arrests.

Police on scene said the man was arrested initially in relation to a forgery case.
