Driver killed after car crosses line, hits truck

By Gavin Lesnick

This article was published November 27, 2012 at 6:29 a.m.

— A driver was killed Monday when the car he was driving veered into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle, authorities said.

Evan Langston, 25, was reportedly driving a 2009 Toyota Camry west on Arkansas 22 in Ratcliff in Logan County when the car crossed the centerline.

Arkansas State Police say the Camry then struck a 2000 Chevrolet truck. It happened shortly after 5 p.m.

Langston was dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the truck were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

A preliminary report on the collision did not indicate what caused the Camry to cross into opposing traffic. It noted that rain was misting and the road was wet at the time.

Langston was the 494th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.

Yet another case where I hope and pray that the Dem-Gaz will stay on this story. Late model Toyota doesn't just "veer" into oncoming traffic, misting rain or not.

I don't think even the DemGaz can know what was happening in that person's mind seconds before the collision, unless there was evidence of texting.

or...the article was updated sometime after Gotta posted. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen a comment that became superfluous after an article was updated.
