Driver killed after car crosses line, hits truck

— A driver was killed Monday when the car he was driving veered into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle, authorities said.

Evan Langston, 25, was reportedly driving a 2009 Toyota Camry west on Arkansas 22 in Ratcliff in Logan County when the car crossed the centerline.

Arkansas State Police say the Camry then struck a 2000 Chevrolet truck. It happened shortly after 5 p.m.

Langston was dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the truck were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

A preliminary report on the collision did not indicate what caused the Camry to cross into opposing traffic. It noted that rain was misting and the road was wet at the time.

Langston was the 494th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
