FORT SMITH Gov. Mike Beebe has scheduled a trip to Fort Smith for an economic development announcement Thursday.
Details weren’t disclosed, but the address given is that of a firearms and ammunition company.
An announcement from Beebe’s office says the governor will be on hand, along with local and company leaders to announce an expansion.
Umarex USA makes firearms, accessories and ammunition, and opened an office building at Chaffee Crossing in October 2010. It had previously leased space in Fort Smith.
State economic development officials released no further information about the announcement.
When Umarex moved to Chaffee Crossing in 2010, it announced it would one day host manufacturing and assembly operations there.

This could be some badly needed good news for Fort Smith.
