SEARCY — Jury selection is to get under way in a legal battle over a $1 million lottery ticket that one woman threw away and another plucked out of the trash.
Judge Craig Hannah scheduled jury selection for Friday ahead of a trial set for next Thursday and Friday.
Sharon Duncan says she bought the lottery ticket and threw it away after an electronic scanner told her it wasn’t a winner.
Sharon Jones grabbed the ticket from a convenience store trash can and claimed the jackpot.
Another judge ruled this spring that Duncan was entitled to the prize money, but he later ordered a new trial.
