Police beat

— Knife-wielder took

wallet, man says

Little Rock police are searching for a man who they said robbed another man who had just left an ATM earlier this month.

About 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4, a man was driving away from the ATM at the US Bank branch at 6004 Base Line Road after withdrawing money, when a man armed with a knife stopped him and demanded money, a police report states.

The man with the knife said, “Give me your wallet or you’re going to get stabbed,” according to a police report.

The man, who wore a mask and a long-sleeved shirt, took the victim’s wallet containing $40 and bank information and left on foot.

The robbery was reported to police Wednesday.

Victim identified

in NLR house fire

North Little Rock police on Thursday identified the woman who died in a house fire the day before.

Firefighters found the body of Darla Deblock, 53, in her bed after extinguishing a blaze at her home at 4500 N. Gum St., Fire Department Capt. John Pflasterer and North Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Brian Dedrick said.

About 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, police officers spotted smoke and flames coming from the home and tried to enter, but the blaze kept them from going in, Pflasterer said Wednesday.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within 30 minutes, he said. Investigators think a space heater near the bed sparked the fire, which destroyed the home, he said.
