Texarkana businesses raided in gambling probe

— Authorities in Texarkana say seven people were cited Thursday during raids of private clubs where illegal gambling machines were in operation.

The Texarkana Police Department says business owners, permit holders and employees at four businesses face a class D felony charge of possessing a gambling machine after investigators found devices commonly called "8-liners" on the premises.

Raids were conducted Thursday at Hippies on East 36th Street, The Roadmap on East Street, The Cottage on East 9th Street and The Crazy Horse Saloon on Broad Street.

All those cited have been ordered to appear in Texarkana District Court, authorities said in a news release.
