CAC holds off Arkadelphia's last stand, 7-0

— Clark County has its first loss.

On a rainy night on Mustang Mountain, Central Arkansas Christian took advantage of their only score, a 26-yard Chase Dowell touchdown run, and made a goal-line stand for a 7-0 victory over Arkadelphia.

The loss is the first of the season for the Badgers (5-1, 2-1 7-4A Conference) and for Clark County as a whole. All high school teams and college teams from the county had been undefeated until Friday.

A rainy pregame gave way to a sloppy first half by both teams. The Mustangs (3-2, 2-1) managed 6 yards of total offense in the first two quarters and 96 yards the entire game.

With 6:17 left in the third quarter, Dowell broke loose up the middle on a read-option and broke two tackles before being brought down in the endzone for the games only score.

Arkadelphia got the ball back with 1:38 left in the game, driving to the CAC 2-yard line. After three stuffed runs, quarterback John Franklin Matros' screen pass to Cantrell Lewis fell incomplete at the line of scrimmage to seal the Mustang victory.
