Small earthquake strikes north Georgia mountains

— A small earthquake has rattled North Georgia near the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the 2.5-magnitude tremor happened just after midnight Saturday. The epicenter was calculated to be at McCaysville.

Residents of nearby Blue Ridge told WSB-TV that the earthquake sounded like a bomb.

Officials said they received calls about the earthquake, but no damage was reported.
