Keith Slaten named director of Economic Development Center

— Keith Slaten has been named director of the Economic Development Center at Arkansas State University-Searcy.

In his new position, Slaten will direct and coordinate training and classes for local business and industry in Searcy, as well as Heber Springs and Beebe. He will also develop and coordinate community-interest classes on a variety of subjects, including defensive driving, duck calling, fly-fishing and art.

Slaten returns to Searcy after 14 years at Pulaski Technical College in Little Rock, where he worked with industry and business leaders to meet training needs and develop programs for pre-employment training and continuing education. Prior to his tenure at Pulaski Tech, he worked for the Arkansas Department of Higher Education in Little Rock.

Slaten holds bachelor’s degrees in computer science and mathematics, both from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and master’s degrees in management and computer resource/information management.
