Shackleford Road closed for repairs

— Little Rock’s Public Works Department announced the temporary closure of Shackleford Road between Kanis Road and Interstate 430 on Wednesday.

That section of Shackleford Road was closed at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and will remain closed through the end of the day Friday. The closure is required for milling the road surface to prepare it for repaving.

The project is being paid for with funding designated for street resurfacing from the 2011 citywide sales-tax increase.

Public works staff members said the closure is necessary because of the number of vehicles that travel that section of the street. The milling will leave the surface roughened, and staff members asked drivers to proceed slowly and with caution once the road is reopened.

They said barricades will be placed throughout the roadwork site, and travelers will be directed around the project. The milling is expected to delay traffic through the Shackleford area, and drivers may want to find alternate routes.
