Star City man found shot in running car, dies at hospital

— Little Rock police are investigating the shooting death of a man who was found in a running car on Fair Park Boulevard early Thursday.

About 2:43 a.m., officers responding to a shots-fired call in the area of West 12th Street and Fair Park Boulevard were told that a man had been shot in a vehicle at 1100 Fair Park Blvd., a police report states.

Officers found a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass running in the middle of Fair Park Boulevard south of 11th Street and facing southeast, police said.

Inside the vehicle, officers found Charles Hall Jr., 27, of Star City, slumped over into the passenger seat with multiple gunshot wounds, police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said.

Hall was taken to UAMS Medical Center by Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:28 a.m., reports state.

Davis said skid marks found at the scene indicate that Hall was driving when he was shot.

She said she wasn’t sure exactly where Hall was driving when the shooting occurred.

No information on suspects was released Thursday afternoon.

Hall’s slaying is the 42nd homicide investigated by the Little Rock Police Department this year.

The department includes the May 23 accidental shooting death of 14-year-old Tyjuan Woodard in its homicide total.

On this date in 2011, the department had recorded 27 homicides, ending the year with 37. There were 28 slayings in the city in 2010.
