CLARICE MILLER AMICK, 80, of Little Rock, passed away on September 6, 2012. She was born October 24, 1931, in St. Clair Shores, Mich. She is survived by her husband, Walter, and her two sons, Walt and Bruce; her grandchildren, Sam, Debra, Jon, Josh, Gabe, Kendra, Joanna and Noah; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Kaylee, and Riley; and by her sister, Marilyn, and brothers, David, Don, George, John, Leonard, Robert (Ed), and Tom.

Clarice touched many people’s lives with her warmth, kindness and sense of humor. The Reverend MARCUS HURKUS ELLIOTT JR., Presiding Elder, Retired, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012. He was born October 14, 1926, in Sherrill, Ark., to the late Marcus Hurkus and Blanche Elliott. He is survived by his spouse, Mrs. Mozell Elliott; his son, Marcus H. Elliott III (Ramona); his daughters, Erma Jean Cook Williams (Oliver), Anita Michelle Elliott Brannon (the Reverend Eugene), and Melanie A. Elliott Hillard (Jessie); a step-son, the Reverend Bill A. Bowers (Sandra); eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two goddaughters and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. HAROLD RAYMOND GARRON, age 86, of Little Rock, died Saturday at the John McClellan Veterans Hospital Hospice in Little Rock. He had been in poor health for the past five years.

Mr. Garron was born June 2, 1926, in Chelsea, Mass., and was the son of Raymond Garron and Grace Donovan Garron. He lived in Little Rock for the past 27 years, was a claims adjuster for State Farm, was a Veteran of World War II, was a member of the American Legion, and was a Catholic.

Mr. Garron married Melba Conlee Speir in 1985, and she survives him along with two sons; Paul Garron, and wife, Tracy, and Bob Garron, all of Knoxville, Tenn., one daughter, Meg French, and husband, Gary, of Huntington, N.Y., and four grandchildren, Zack, Matt, Daniel, and Ali.

Services for Mr. Garron will be held graveside, 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. JESSIE L. HARE, 68, of North Little Rock passed away on September 4, 2012. He was born on September 5, 1943, in Magnolia, Ark., to Byron Hare and Lilian (Chisolm) Hare. Mr. Hare was a member of First Baptist Church in Magnolia. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War as a Para Rescue Specialist, and was a truck driver and member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his son, John Byron Hare (Maria) of Wylie, Texas; the love of Jessie’s life, Dana Chambers of Magnolia; brothers, Gerald Hare (Martha) of Little Rock, Don Hare (Connie) of Victoria, Texas, and Chris Hare (Jerrie) of Russellville; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

WILLIAM JAY JOSEPH JOHNSON “BILL” was actually born William Joseph Charron on February 25, 1952, to William and Pauline Charron in Brooklyn, N.Y. Bill at age 60 departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

CABOT — Monie Lou Carter, 68, of Cabot, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 10, 2012. Monie was born to Willie and Bessie Mitchell on October 15, 1943. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Monie was “Granny” to all who knew her.

CONWAY — Charles W. Bettis, 90, of Conway, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012. He was born June 22, 1922, in Donaldson, Ark., to the late Charles Brown Bettis and Florence Stella (Hudson) Bettis. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife Ethel Mae Bettis and a daughter, Marilyn Bettis.

He was a longtime member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Conway. Charles honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II from August 20, 1942, to March 17, 1946. He was employed as a manufacturer’s representative with various hardware and furniture companies until his retirement. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Charlie (as his friends called him) was a true southern gentleman, and never met a stranger. He was very devoted to his family and church.

Charles is survived by his son, Gary Bettis, and wife Marianne of Anthem, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Conway, with Pastor Kyle Cochran officiating. CONWAY — Belinda Sue Burnett, 57, of Conway passed away September 10, 2012. She was born on March 3, 1955, in Bath, N.Y. to Francis and Dorothy (Jessup) Mc-Caig. She was united in marriage to David Burnett on May 3, 1978, at Sheridan. She loved shopping, especially for shoes and purses. She enjoyed camping and was an avid Razorback fan. She was also fond of music, and played the flute, as well as singing in the church choir, but above all, she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church.

She is survived by her husband David of Conway, her mother, Dorothy, step-children David Jr. (Rochelle) Burnett of Alexander, Sheila (Roger) Taylor of Benton, Troy (Cheryl) Burnett of Sheridan and Cindy Creech of Sheridan; two sisters, one brother, her special niece Bobbi Jo Singleton, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with Brother Roger Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. CORNING — Mrs. Mary Ruth Byars Lynch, of Corning, died September 10, 2012 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Mrs. Lynch was born to James T. and Ada Reynolds Byars in Jonesboro on September 14, 1923 and raised in Jonesboro, where she graduated from Jonesboro High School. On December 11, 1943 she married the love of her life, Dan Thomas Lynch in Fort Bragg, N.C., during WWII. They met at Arkansas State University.

A resident of Corning for 63 years, Mrs. Lynch was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church for 63 years, serving as Director and as President of the Women’s Missionary Society. She taught Bible School classes for many years and directed the music in Bible School in her later years. She sang in the FBC Choir for 63 years and taught the Fidelis Sunday School Women’s Class for 27 years. She also served on various committees in the church throughout the years. She loved her church and serving God and his people.

Mrs. Lynch was also active in the community. She was a past member of two bridge clubs in Corning, a member and past president of The Wednesday Club and past president of The Literary and Garden Club. She volunteered at school when her children were young and was active in the Corning PTA. Mrs. Lynch served on the first city committee to raise money and purchase Christmas Lights for Corning. Other activities included working at the Fourth of July Picnic for many years, and volunteering at the Corning Nursing Home in recent years. She was actively involved in her two daughters’ activities while they were in high school and college, and she attended all her grandson’s sports events, academic awards ceremonies and his high school, college and law school graduations from the University of Arkansas. She was affectionately known as “Nanny” to her grandson and his friends.

She always had a smile for everyone and loved visiting with people. In years past she and her husband traveled extensively and spent many winters in Florida with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of the home; two daughters, Dana Ruth and Fred Brown of Corning, Trisha Elizabeth and Jim Dixon of Tampa, Florida; one grandson Brandy Lynch and Kelli, great-granddaughter, Ainsley Susanne, and great-grandson, Witt Edrington Brown all of Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William Spencer and James Aldon Byars.

Visitation for Mrs. Lynch will be Wednesday, September 12, from 12-1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Corning at Third and Olive Street. A service of celebration for the life of Mrs. Lynch will begin at 1:30 at the Church with Dr. Rusty Keltner presiding and Mrs. Thelma Rockwell leading the congregational singing.

Pallbearers will be Truman Moore, Thad Clark, Michael Smith, Terry Rapert, Cliff Gifford and Zach Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Moore, Amos Baker, F.B. Manatt, Dennis Cate, Ralph Crafton and Joe Jett.

HOT SPRINGS — Flo Jared, 87, of Hot Springs died Sunday, September 9, 2012. She was born September 23, 1924 in Carlisle, Arkansas to the late Otha Lavon and Ernestine (Holden) Gunn. Flo taught 1st grade for 16 years at Langston Elementary and Eastside Elementary in Hot Springs. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was very active in all church and Sunday school activities for over 40 years. Flo also enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and quilting.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mickey A. Jared; brothers Milton Gunn and Otha Lavon Gunn Jr. Survivors include daughter, Patsy McInturff of Charleston, Missouri; sons, Don Jared (Donna) of Aurora, Colorado, Mike Jared (Theresa) of Hot Springs; daughter, Brenda Holder of El Dorado; sisters, Jean Vaught of Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, Marie Smithers Farrar (Bob) of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

MARKED TREE — Junaway Payne, 79, of Marked Tree, died Monday, September 10, 2012, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a longtime resident of Marked Tree, a member of First United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class. Junaway was a 1950 graduate of Lepanto High School. He was employed by E. Ritter Company and also Portis Mercantile Company in Lepanto where he retired. In addition, he was secretary of the Poinsett County Democratic Central Committee, Poinsett County Election commission, past President of Arkansas Missouri Ginner’s Association, Commissioner of Drainage District #7, Masonic Lodge at Dyess and a member of the Board of Directors at Little River Bank. He was born in Grubbs, Arkansas, October 12, 1932, to Euless Othal and Ida Crawford Payne.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Joe Payne. He is survived by his wife, Billye Means Payne of the home; sons, Michael Thomas Payne (Sarah) of West Memphis, Justine Matthew Payne (Amy) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughters, Myra Gay Curtright (Ron) of West Memphis, Melina Jane Payne of Marion; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church in Marked Tree. A reception will follow in the church reception hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marked Tree First United Methodist Church.

MOUNT IDA — Vera S. Mc-Clain, our most beloved mother, went to join the love of her life, Reuben L. McClain, on September 8, 2012. She was born November 11, 1913, in Okolona, Ark. Because of her love for children, she was a long time school teacher in Arkansas. She was an inspiration to those who met her and the joy she brought to all those who knew her. JENKS, Okla. — Virginia Dale Corbell Tyndall, 78, of Jenks, Okla. died Saturday, Sept. 8 at Tulsa, Okla. She was born August 26, l934, at Nashville, Ark. to Arthur and Mabel (Funderburk) Corbell, who are deceased.

Survivors are her husband, John N. Tyndall of Jenks, Okla.; son, Arthur R. Tyndall (Teresa) of Jenks; son, Dr. Phillip A. Tyndall (Nancy) of Ponca City, Okla.; sister Marjorie Whitmore (Perry) of North Little Rock; sister Betty Smith (Louis) of Nashville. She also is survived by grandchildren, Stephen, Trent, and Brett of Jenks; Sydney and Ryleah of Ponca City.

She married her high school sweetheart John and celebrated 56 years of marriage in May 2012. A graduate of Nashville High School in 1952, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) and graduated in 1959 from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She started her teaching career in Nashville in l954, taught at Fayetteville in 1959 and retired in l986 after teaching 25 years in Jenks Public Schools.

She served as president of the Jenks Classroom Teachers; president of Alpha Delta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Iota; chairperson of the Jenks Middle School English Department and member of the Professional Accountability Committee of the American Association of University Women. Other activities and interests included Tulsa Opera Guild, where she served as VP of Education and Bridge Marathon Chair, reading and enjoying her five grandchildren.

The service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be at 2 p.m., Friday at First Christian Church of Jenks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. To send condolences, you may visit www.ultimatetributes.com.
