TRANSITIONS

— Just a reminder: We’re expecting two high-end Little Rock restaurants to debut on Friday:

If the city planning development commission cooperates and provides the go-ahead — as of Tuesday, owner-executive chef Wes Ellis was still waiting — the Packet House Grill, a “Southern-style steakhouse with a Creole spin,” will open at 1406 Cantrell Road. Hours will be 4-9:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with a 4-6 p.m. happy hour. Call ahead — the phone number is (501) 372-1578.

And 1620 Savoy, replacing Restaurant 1620 at 1620 Market St., has had at least one soft opening night this week and should open on time. Hours will be 5-10 p.m. daily in the fine-dining room, 10 a.m.-midnight weekdays, 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday in the bar/lounge. The phone number is (501) 221-1620; the website: 1620savoy.com.

The New Green Mill Cafe, 8609 W. Markham St., Little Rock, has closed — “permanently closed,” according to UrbanSpoon (urbanspoon. com/r/200/1034810/restaurant/New-Green-Mill-Cafe-Little-Rock) and the phone number, (501) 225-9907, has been disconnected.

Chef Jeffrey Palsa, who operates The Food Truck in Little Rock, has created Second Thursday Truck Night, a monthly food-truck get-together at the Bernice Garden, 1401 S. Main St., Little Rock, in the SoMa neighborhood. The next one will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and will continue every second Thursday throughout the fall. Nearby Loblolly Creamery, we’re told, will keep its soda fountain in the Green Corner Store open “for folks in need of ice cream or a fresh-made soda.”

Has a restaurant opened — or closed — near you in the last week or so? Does your favorite eatery have a new menu? Is there a new chef in charge? Drop us a line. Call (501) 399-3667 or (501) 378-3513, or send a note to Restaurants, Weekend Section, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 121 E. Capitol Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72201. Send e-mail to:
